  1. From someone who has had dozens of MRI scans my advice would be just relax. Block out any noise close your eyes. Ive had them since I was 6 i'm 30 now. Dont be afraid to ask the radiologist any questions you have.

  2. I've had them forever, too, but I commented on your last post :p But adding to my comment there, I really hope it goes alright! Don't worry, once I was there in there for two hours and I dozed through most of it. It is a bit strange, but no worries. Ask questions and bring music or something. I used to do audio books, and that helped.

  3. Hey Bailey - my daughter is 10, and she's had 3 MRIs so far - one every year for the past 3 years. We were really lucky because the radiology center where she had them done has a special system where you can watch a movie on these goggles during the MRI. If you could find a center that has those, I highly recommend it.

If those aren't available, some things you might want to think about are music and audio books (as Jenni above mentioned). I'd also bring some warm, fuzzy socks, as it can get cold in the room. And maybe a blanket, just in case they don't provide one.

It can be noisy and feel kind of scary at first, I know my daughter felt that way - but once she saw there was nothing to be afraid of, she just did her best to relax.

I'm sure you'll do fine and once it's over you'll feel glad and proud.

I wish you the best of luck and a good experience.

    Take care.

  4. Hi there! I have NF 1 too.
I was REALLY scared the first time I had an MRI. It's not bad at all. All you have to do is lay still :) I'm 18 now, and I'm due for another MRI in the near future.
I actually fell asleep during mine! You'll be fine, just relax and try not to move around too much :)
    Good luck!!

  5. Hey Bailey,
I was 8 when I had my first MRI done. I was scared at first but what I did was bring my own music, and that helped me take my mind off it. As I got older there were times I almost fell asleep during mine, lol. You will be fine. You are strong just like your mom, and as long as you carry that strength with you you will be fine.

  6. I have had Many mri's done. ( i have NF1) all i can say is if they let you dress in your comfy pjs (no metal on them tho) and go in and do your best to relax, clothes your eyes and just deep breaths and relax, it will go fine. no need to worry! it will fly by. i would be in for almost an hour each time.

  7. Don't be nervous, you'll do just fine. I agree with pretty much everything that has been said above. Bring some comfy metal-free pajamas and fuzzy socks, I remember it being cold in the room. It can be kind of loud, so pick some good music to bring. Try not to move around too much or they have to re-do some things, and that's just more time laying there :( I'm 22 now, with NF1 and have had MRIs since I was four.
